Wine lifestyle host, Jessica Altieri of Wine Channel TV visited Saratoga and Chef Roslyn Zecchini at Forno Bistro. For the past 6 years, Chef Roz has been creating spectacular rustic Italian dishes in Saratoga for locals and lucky tourists when the race track opens.
Roslyn Zecchini immersed herself in the planning process when she and her husband completely transformed the once-casual Applebee’s in Clifton Park into Pasta Pane, an upscale Mediterranean bistro, in 2010. “It’s first time I was involved in every single aspect of opening a restaurant,” she said. The pair are investing the same time and energy in their newest venture, Boca Bistro, a former pizza shop on the busy Broadway strip in downtown Saratoga Springs.

David and Roslyn Zecchini, who own three restaurants in Saratoga County, plan to open a Mediterranean bistro and tapas bar in a building they’re buying at 384 Broadway in Saratoga Springs, David Zecchini tells me. Their company, DZ Restaurants, which also runs Chianti il Ristorante and Forno Bistro, both in the Spa City, and Pasta Pane in Clifton Park, is under contract for the building, with the closing projected for next week. The site previously was home to a clothing boutique called Raina’s and a pizza shop; the former moved a few doors down.

David and Roslyn Zecchini had lived in their new home for less than a year when nature evicted them for five months. Ice buildup caused water damage to the roof and whole interior walls. Before they understood the pervasiveness of the problem, David observed a drip, dismissed it and put down a pan to catch the water.

“It’s a little leak,” he recalls saying. “How bad could it be? We’ll be fine.”

The Saratoga Automobile Museum and DZ Restaurants have partnered to create the Saratoga Automobile Museum’s First Annual Start to Finish Wine Tasting to be held April 21, 2012 from 1 PM to 4 PM.

This first time event will feature the Auto mobile Museum’s current exhibit, Porsche – 60 Years of Speed and Style, over 80 international wines, and food catered by DZ Restaurants.

Though renowned for their three current restaurant locations; Chianti Il Ristorante, Forno Bistro and Pasta Pane, DZ Restaurants will use this event to preview select menu items from their newest restaurant concept opening in May, Boca Bistro; a Spanish Bistro and Tapas Bar.

“Here was a rare opportunity to bring together my two passions, good food and fast cars.” said David Zecchini, owner of DZ Restaurants and Automobile Museum Board Member, “For many years it has been a dream of mine to create an event like this and I’m deeply grateful for the partnership and participation of the museum.”

Proceeds of the event will be used to support the Automobile Museum’s expanding education programs including the ‘Under the Bus’ program which utilizes students with a Master Mechanic to restore a Model T School bus, programming for students on traffic safety, and defensive driving.

Tickets for the Saratoga Automobile Museum’s First Annual Start to Finish Wine Tasting are $50 each and are available at www.saratogaautomuseum.org, at the Automobile Museum, or at any DZ Restaurant.
